About Ballan Group
We're a small Auckland team that's been plastering and painting for over 20 years. We don't cut corners, and we don't rush the job. We take the time to do it right, from what's underneath to the final finish.
Our story
Ballan Group has spent more than 20 years working on Auckland homes: plastering, repairing, and painting. We built our reputation in the exterior claddings and coatings industry at a time when a lot of Auckland homes needed someone who understood what was really going on beneath the surface.
That experience shaped how we work. It taught us that the difference between a paint job that lasts and one that doesn't is rarely just about the paint. It's about the assessment, the preparation, and being honest about what a surface actually needs.
More than 20 years on, that's still how we approach every job.
The team
There are three of us, and we've worked together from nearly the beginning. That matters more than it might sound.
After this many years on the tools together, there's no guesswork. Everyone knows what a finished surface should look like before it gets signed off, and nobody signs off anything less.
When one of us says a wall needs more prep, or a repair isn't ready for paint, that's the end of the conversation. The job takes as long as the job takes.
No rotating crews, no subcontracted strangers on your property. The people who quote your job are the people who turn up and do it.
We hold ourselves to a high standard because we've seen what happens when corners get cut. A rushed job might look fine at first, but problems can soon start to show.
We believe quality comes from taking the time to get every stage right. That means assessing properly, preparing properly, and using the right products for the job, so the finished result looks great and continues to protect your home for years to come.
We won't compromise on the quality of the job. If we're going to put our name to it, we want it done right.
Our specialism
Auckland has thousands of plastered homes: monolithic cladding, solid plaster, textured coatings. They're beautiful when they're looked after, and they're often misunderstood by trades who treat them like any other surface.
We've specialised in these homes for over two decades. We know how the cladding systems behave, where cracks come from, what moisture does behind a coating, and what a repair needs before paint should go anywhere near it.
That knowledge is the difference between a repaint that protects your home and one that just hides what's wrong with it.
Straight answers
“ If a surface needs fixing first, we say so. We won't paint over a problem, not even if you ask us to. ”
Sometimes that means the quote is bigger than you hoped. Sometimes it means recommending a specialist before we start. Either way, you'll know exactly where your home stands, and the work we do will actually last.
We work closely with Dulux on every project, using their colour and product consultants to get the selection right: the colours that genuinely suit your home, and the products that will last in your conditions.
Most painters skip this step. We think it's just part of doing the job properly.
No rush, no hard sell. Just an honest conversation about what your home needs and what the right approach looks like.
